Comment from the artist
Inspiration is always so amazing, and this time it is a friend who was the igniting spark for this diptych, for her relation with the cello.
Pun, the title of this work makes reference naturally to the instrument (violoncelo or chelo in Spanish) and those who play it, but also to the concepts of jealousy (celos in Spanish) and extreme enthusiasm or zeal (celo in Spanish) that can both haunt our feelings.
Is there some competition between these two music lovers? The woman, wearing a garment XIXth century style,, may be playing some Brahms, while his XVI-XVIIth century style clothes could hint at the man's preference for Bach. The instruments themselves are rather more modern. So the epochs are amalgamating, as music itself is timeless.
In spite of this possible rivalry, our two musicians unite nevertheless to form a single face, that of the Gran Maestro, the composer, the inspiration. And it is in the peacefulness of the landscape and the harmony of the soft colours that "Los Celistas" invite us to linger in reflection
