Comment from the artist

The inspiration for this work came to me while assisting at a Montreal event, the Dragon Boats Festival, where honour is being paid to the Chinese poet That Yuan.

Three Asian young ladies seem to take pleasure in the birds surrounding them (Latin: circum - all around; thus the painting title). Through the multiple circles (Latin: circo - circle; thus the painting title) of various sizes, I tried to convey a sense of movement in contrast with the characters who appear otherwise rather static and contemplative.
