Comment from the artist

In this piece, I represent a surreal being hardly coming out of a tree to which he is still attached. This tree represents life, source of carbon, building block of the living matter we are all made of.

With his left hand, this being seems to be pointing to the tree-of-origin, while his right hand appears to be carrying some ether matter, which could be a soul.

The numerous ramifications of the tree remind us of the different roads we can take during our life, of which we finally select only one. Short or long, so goes the twig so goes the duration of our life.
